Why I’m Currently Studying Health Science at University
If you’ve been in my chair, you already know this about me: I’m endlessly curious about the human body, the nervous system, and the way our inner world shows up in our outer health. For almost two decades behind the chair, I’ve had the privilege of caring for people—not just their hair, but their stories, their stress, their emotional weight, and their wellbeing.
That’s why I made the decision to study Health Science at university. It isn’t a career change. It’s an expansion.
A deepening.
A “next level” to the work I already do.
Bridging Beauty, Wellness, and Evidence-Based Care
Hair tells a story. Scalp health tells a story. Stress, hormones, sleep, trauma, diet, and lifestyle all leave their fingerprints on the body—and I see that every single day in my salon.
Studying Health Science allows me to:
Understand the body at a deeper level — from anatomy and physiology to chemistry, hormones, and pathology.
Bring evidence-based knowledge into the advice, treatments, and rituals I offer.
Support clients holistically, not just aesthetically.
Blend science with soul, offering a safe place where people can relax, be held, and be educated.
For me, learning isn’t just academic—it’s another way of honouring the trust my clients place in me.
Creating Safer, Smarter, Health-Focused Hair Rituals
My passion has always been low-tox colour, scalp health, hormone-friendly hair routines, and helping clients understand why their hair behaves the way it does.
Studying health science gives me the tools to:
Navigate ingredient chemistry more confidently
Understand inflammation, detoxification, and hormonal imbalances
Guide clients through stress-related scalp issues
Educate families on healthier routines (especially for kids)
Build rituals that support both the body and the nervous system
It aligns with my mission: healthy hair starts with a healthy body.
Why It Matters to Me Personally
As a mum, a holistic practitioner, a trauma-informed human, and someone constantly working on her own healing, I want to understand the body’s systems so I can support longevity, resilience, and wellbeing — not just for myself, but for my children and the community I serve.
This degree also opens the door for me to:
Create better education resources
Build programs that go deeper into health and hair
Empower women to feel strong, aligned, and informed
Make evidence-based wellness more accessible and less overwhelming
I want everything I offer—whether it’s a colour package, a scalp ritual, or an online course—to be grounded in truth, care, and integrity.
Where This Is Leading
You’ll see my passion evolving into:
Holistic hair & scalp programs
Workshops and online education
Hormone-friendly lifestyle and nutrition guidance
Trauma-informed wellness support
A salon experience that nurtures your mind, body, and hair
This degree is helping me design a future where beauty and wellbeing are not separate things. They’re partners.
A Final Word From My Heart
I’m studying Health Science because I want to be the practitioner who sees you fully—not just your hair, but your stress, your health, your goals, and your life.
I’m here to help you feel strong, educated, and supported… from scalp to soul.
And I’m just getting started.
